The Intercultural Self

The Intercultural Self

In my growing up experience,
I have always been defined into a fixed image.
There are strong indications of what I am expected to do, who I am expected to become, how I am going to go through my life.

Then after I began my life overseas,
I have felt more accepted.
I feel more accepted not really just because
others really accept me, but
I show who I truly am as a person.
Across different races, languages, cultures,
I own everything I show about myself and my life stories.

There can be language barriers,
however then I see any form of exchange as a heartfelt and genuine connection.
Often when we stop using our language
then we begin to pick up alternative perspectives in understanding things and people.
