Some of the psychology work I do…

Change can be a very difficult thing for healthcare professionals under a big structural and diverse system.

In the last few days,
I was invited to work with students from public health.
These students include senior manager who directly work with public health, overseas workers with their global experiences, as well as local doctors, case manager for universal credit (benefits), etc.
I was thinking to myself,
what could I bring to these experienced professionals?

I attempted to encourage students to form a dialogue with each other.
Not just intellectually, but also emotionally.
Through selecting some cards to represent themselves, students began to express their personal and abstract feelings and thought about public health.
They recognized their differences not based on professional backgrounds, but also personalities.
When exchanging their cards, they became recipient to accepting differences.

Communication is always a two way relationship.
We share.
We listen.
And this is how we connect.

Expertises are powerful weapons, but they become meaningless when we don’t know how to combine them.
Because tools are run by human beings.
Teamwork only comes from good communication and trust.
This is not just a skill, but also a continuous development.
